Orbis is a light and video installation built exclusively for the art festival Asche zu Farbgut in Augsburg. The festival offers an outlook on what can and will be achieved with the future transformation of the old industrial area into a creative area by showcasing a broad spectrum of contemporary art.
Hovering over the visitors like a majestic cloud it captures the industrial vibe of the beautiful building former used to cool down gas for further processing. It’s a modern, abstract interpretation of the industrial use of natures forces which also shows in the way of manufacturing the installation. Modern production methods like 3D printing combined with industrially processed organic materials result in a complex form, revealing different shapes and endless possibilities for interpretation to the visitors depending on their point of view. Projection Mapping brought the structure to life with reactive lightbulbs as its heart beat.

I‘m Steffen Hörbrand. I am currently living and working in Berlin as a freelancer in mediatecture and motion design.
My goal is to merge the electronical world into our reality to create astonishing physical spaces with digital layers. I love the logic of a good code and always try to improve my motion design projects with useful selfwritten plugins. I also work with the coding tool Touchdesigner to achieve a more interactive experience of my work.
I'd love to hear from you! Just write me an email or contact me via one of the social media platforms.
